Dear all, Happy New Year 2025.
They say better late than never, but the start of 2025 at DBB® has been full of issues to address, actions and processes to identify and automate, and deadlines to set and meet. One of those deadlines is undoubtedly writing the blog, which, in addition to being one of my favorite activities, is a space where, every time I devote time to it, I end up with a peculiar feeling of relief, companionship, and perspective on the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.
2025 at DBB® begins with two very pressing issues that cause us great excitement:
1) The first, as I believe I have already mentioned, is that we have finished setting up our own Civil Association (AC), registered with the SAT, with the aim of bringing our programs, activities, and experiences to an increasingly broad sector of youth through the transparent use of financial and in-kind donations. This will allow us to extend the impact of the soft skills that are developed in a lasting way in young people in diverse educational environments, without the lack of sufficient resources or the presence of marginalized conditions being an impediment to providing them with the quality and warmth that characterizes us and as the transformative tools that they are and the hand of other organizations with the same intention and level of commitment.
We are currently in the midst of a training process to understand methods and protocols and to build measurement and evaluation tools that will allow us to quantify in numbers the great positive and lasting impact that occurs in people and their environments when they gain experience and confidence through the development of their own skills, judgment, and strength of character.
2) And the second, another of my favorites that I plan and look forward to every year, is the 5th edition of our now traditional trip to the heart of Texas. In addition to welcoming a new member school, bringing the number of Mexican schools traveling with us to eight, SICMUN VII continues to grow and welcomes a Mexican delegation of almost 60 members, with a record participation of 40 schools from the state of Texas represented by more than 600 students and welcomed by an organizing committee of almost 100 more. If all of them spoke in their native languages, communication would be in more than 40 languages.
We are proud and motivated to promote these unique and unforgettable opportunities for young people, and we are very excited to see the students who travel and their families, tuned into the same emotion and, of course, with the natural nervousness of letting go and being let go, with which we all begin to learn and develop what each of us needs from our own trench, age, and personal context.
We are always grateful for the support, trust, and affection we receive from all the families and schools involved, and just so you know, or maybe to brag a little (hehe), I can tell you that this edition's main destinations are the cities of San Antonio, Austin, and Georgetown, and among its main activities, visits, and tours are a tour of the beautiful facilities of Southwestern University, classes at Meridian World School, an afternoon of rodeo in true Texan style, a night of concerts, a boat ride on the San Antonio River Walk, and some other unforgettable surprises.
Welcome to 2025 with all its experiences, successes, mistakes, and opportunities. It is a pleasure to share this community with each and every one of you.
As always, it's my pleasure...
Robert.
Until next time.
